Our House Is Full, But The Fields Are Empty
By The 2007-2008 Missions Committee

The NLCC missions committee comprises of six individuals from different backgrounds and interests, but united by their passion to see the hope of God shared to the world. Elder Richard Tai leads the committee and is supported by Pastor Yat Wan, Kim Ng, Gilbert Ong, Jason Tan and Erwin Chan. The committee is responsible for directing the efforts of NLCC in the mission field and establishing NLCC as a Missions Sending, Missions Involved and Missions Partnering Church.
For 2007-2008, the missions committee is proactively working towards several goals including;
1. Mobilizing NLCC cells to adopt un-reached people groups or countries.
2. Raising $40,000 for mission trips, activities and support of evangelism work.
3. Equipping and sending out “one family unit” of NLCC missionaries by 2011 and “two family units” by 2014.
4. To plant two churches in Asia by 2011.
5. Focusing on Cambodia, China and Sabah through the sending of annual NLCC mission impact teams, building working relationships with local missionaries and partner organizations in these countries.
To kick off this year’s missions work, a Missions Awareness Month was organized in May/June to increase the awareness of the missions work done by NLCC in the previous years and also to introduce the two countries of focus – Cambodia & Sabah to the congregation. There were country-focused Sundays with prayer points for the two countries. The month was concluded by a Missions Convention Sunday, where Rev. Grant Hobbs from AOG World Mission gave a sermon and the mission pledges raised from the congregation totaled $28,217. Hopefully the target of $40,000 would be reached to fully see all the planned mission activities come to fruition.
There are several events to look out for in the next few months including a visit by a Cambodian Missionary, Pastor Dareth Ly (4-5 August 2007), the Cambodia (11-23 December 2007) and Sabah (4-18 January 2008) Mission Impact Trips. An exposure trip to China is currently being planned for April 2008 to identify opportunities and needs of the Chinese people. It is going to be a great year for God’s work in the mission fields and it is our desire to see more NLCC members getting involved in missions.
